Lacorda was founded by Eric Weil. He was born in 1906 in Bad Godesburg and studied law. However because of the antisemitism in Germany he and his wife emigrated to France in 1934. When the war broke out he joined the French Foreign Legion and on the defeat of France he became a French national. (The French Government had declared that whoever joined the Legion would become a French citizen on completion of the war, little realizing that the war would quickly end in defeat). He lived in the south of France until 1943 before escaping into Switzerland, where he remained until the end of the war.

He returned to Paris, looking for employment. He soon realized that there was a tremendous shortage of watches in France and he started to illegally bring watches into France from Switzerland. He soon realized that the profit margin would be greater if he imported watch parts and had the watches assembled in France, hence the brand name Lacorda. At its peak in the 50's the brand had 10% of the French watch market and the business also had the agency for Vulcain.

CONDITION & SERVICING
- The dial has a beautiful golden patina with gold numerals.
- The case is unpolished and overall a nice example.
- Service history is unknown but is running to spec.
